SIXTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

SIXTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS: TOGETHER FOR THE SDGS!

On September 25, we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals, a global framework for an inclusive, just and sustainable society in 2030.

Some good results have been achieved in the past five years, but we also realise that a lot still needs to be done in the next ten years. We need to step up a gear to reach the goals by 2030!

Together for the SDGs

Only together we can achieve our global goals. That is why the message for today is: “Together for the SDGs”.

The SDGs form our global compass to deal with these complex challenges in the coming years.

Only by working together, we can combat major global challenges, such as climate change, gender equality, biodiversity and fair work.

The SDGs form our global compass to deal with these complex challenges in the coming years.

SDG Action Day

On September 25, world leaders will (virtually) discuss the progress made on the SDGs during the General Assembly of the United Nations.

At the same time, the SDG Action Day will take place in the Netherlands, to show that the global goals are widely supported here and to realise the decade of action.

Sustainable Development Goals –Introduction In September 2015, 193

member States of the United Nations adopted 17 new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to make our world more prosperous, inclusive, sustainable and resilient. These SDGs represent an unprecedented opportunity for institutions, companies, organizations and societies to align their own sustainability indicators with broader societal goals.

The SDGs provide both a stimulus and a framework for corporate sustainability efforts, hence to provides a platform for social & business leaders to use the SDGs  as their strategic north star in setting sustainability targets in their own institutions, Companies, organizations, and societies.

Creating collaborative and multi stakeholder initiatives of institutions, organizations and societies   to tackle systematic challenges like climate change, rising inequality and exploitation of non-renewable resources to work together for a better future is required in achieving SDGs.

Dr.Deshapriya | A POINT TO THINK

Certainly Poetry is a form of expression. Writing it lets us get out our feelings and thoughts from the mind  on a subject while reading it encourages us to connect and find meaning in our experiences. It is learned that  Poetry can have a positive impact on the social and emotional learning of children and the younger generation . Read more Click here
